A Hip Replacement Surgery is a very common joint replacement, whereby the diseased cartilage and bone of the Hip Joint is surgically replaced with artificial material called implant. Hip Joint Replacement involves surgical removal of the diseased ball and socket and replacing them with a metal or ceramic ball and stem inserted into the femur bone and an artificial plastic cup socket. The stem is fixed into the femur bone either using bone cement or without cement.
Patients with damaged hip joint either due to trauma, wear-and-tear arthritis, osteoarthritis or any other cause should consider hip replacement to get rid of the pain and diminishing daily function in order to maintain the quality of life.
